This mod adds an NPC hostile mob named 'Herobrine' who works like a bit an Enderman, but far more challenging.

Herobrine is often joked as being Notch’s dead brother, back from the dead. Who is Herobrine? Herobrine is a hostile NPC designed to add a new challenge to Minecraft. What challenges does he bring? He can build things (often things that are bad for the player). He will haunt the player and pop out of seemingly nowhere, screaming and running straight at the player.

Herobrine is more or less a true in-game Slender Man. When he attacks the player, he can potentially send them flying into the air and above the clouds, which means instant death if the player is not prepared. Herobrine is based on an old Minecraft creepy-pasta that originally appeared on 4chan. In this story, Herobrine (despite the lack of source code for him) would appear, create random constructions, and cut all the leaves off trees. According to the story, he is a virus with the same skin as “Steve”, but with glowing eyes. The totem is build using two gold blocks, one netherrack, and a new block, “the Herobrine totem”.

The totem is then lit on fire, which summons lightning strikes, and of course, Herobrine himself. Once summoned, Herobrine can appear at any time or location. He will pop out of nowhere in a cloud of smoke and start attacking the player. These attacks will happen at random times, potentially one right after another.

The type of attack is totally random as well.
