I think this can do everything that one would want. It's getting it to do it that's the problem for a novice like me.
The book does explain everything, though it certainly could be far clearer. There are many, many steps between recording and producing a CD. When I finally got it done, it was worthless, too quiet to be heard. Fostex help is reluctant, but if you talk nice to them, they do try. However, if you are technically inclined or have experience with this sort of thing, it may be just the ticket.
