I have a HP dv600 laptop. While logging on/off the screen stays black for about 20 seconds before it reaches the desktop/login screen, when it should be doing a quick fade in/out.
This issue does not happen when I am using the Display driver provided by HP. This issue only happens when using the windows 7 version of the display driver. I'd much rather use the microsoft version of the driver because it has much better performance and quality. I also noticed at this page: there was this mentioned: Fixes display and compatibility issues that may occur when resuming from Suspend or Hibernation mode. So HP display + HP chipset = fix.
And Microsoft Display Driver for Geforce Go 6150 + HP Chipset driver = No Fix. So I am thinking that these 2 drivers do not mix to create the fix. Heroes Of Might And Magic 3 here. A Side fact about this laptop and windows 7 would be to go into your device manager and update your NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA controller or your laptop will lock up every 5 minutes for about 2 minutes each time! This is only updated manually by the user and windows update does not pick up most driver updates for devices, except the video card. But the video card can only be updated through windows update and cannot through the device manager.

The model is a Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939. I actually did get it to install, I had to download the Silicon Image 3512 Base Driver for Vista 64bit, since I am using the SATA interface vs IDE on the mother board. Not sure if the IDE would work, most likely it would. The SATA interface utilizes the Gigabyte Raid Controller (Silicon Image 3512) and can be used in RAID and BASE (Non-Raid) mode. I was installing the 64bit version and was able to find the 64bit driver from Silicon Image website. It does look like there is a NForce3 driver for the AGP to PCI bus in device manager under system. Im not sure if I will have any problems with that and stability in the future, hopefully they are reliable.
I know the Realtek AC97 audio driver was not detected and the Silicon Image 3512 was not detected and drivers not loaded. But everything else seems to be ok from what I can see. So Microsoft please add the Silicon Image 3512 driver for 32bit and 64bit on final release.

I hope they continute to make it faster and supper stable. Good work Microsoft, keep it up. I cant wait for release date to finally have a quick and stable system. Even XP SP3 seems to not be stable at times, Vista has always felt slow, even with SP1. I just want to get things done quickly!:-) I hate the spinning circle and waiting for the OS to deal with unstable (Other Venders Software), Could be browser related, or other software. IE 7 is always unstable, IE 8 seems a better so far.
